Drone Technology: The drone was first invented by Abraham Karem who was born on June 27, 1937, in Baghdad, Iraq. He was known as the father of UAV (Drone) technology. He creates his first aircraft drone for Israel Airforce in Yom Kippur War.
In technical words, a Drone is an unmanned aircraft that can be remotely controlled with the help of controllers and we can trace its location also with the help of GPS devices.
Nowadays this UAV (drones) plays a very important role in Defense and Military operations. With the help of these fields, there is very fast growth and advancement taking place in the technology of drones.
In the past time, the Military used this drone technology only as a weapon in the form of remotely guided bombarding aircraft. But nowadays we found a wide range of applications where drone technology is used by civilians in the form of small Quadcopters and many more.
In the present time, people are using this technology in many ways for Surveillance purposes, food delivery, photography, and in the film industry. There are plenty of examples present where this technology is making our lives easier and more advanced. As per FAA data in 2019 there were 1.1 million drones registered in the USA.
Meaning behind UAV-
UAV is an acronym for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle which means an unmanned vehicle that can fly remotely/ can be controlled over the remote controllers.
Types of Drones or Drone Technology-
Contents
There are many different types of drones which are available in the market and some of them are as follows-
- Single Rotor Drones
- Multi-Rotor Drones
- Small Drones
- Micro Drones
- Fixed Wing Drones
- Fixed-Wing Hybrid Drones
- Combat Drones
- Non- Combat Large Drones
- Tactical Drones
- GPS Drones
- Photography Drones
- Racing Drones
If you look around yourself the most selling drones are Small drones, Microdrones, GPS drones, Racing drones, and Photography Drones. The buying quantity of these drones is increasing because rapidly of their amazing features. No one knows 20 years back about the idea to put the camera over the drone and shoot the images in marriage, films, and many other wonderful occasions.
Is flying a drone is a difficult task or Not?
According to me, flying a drone is not a difficult task. If you have a passion and interest to fly then you can easily learn how to fly a drone. And in today’s time, the quality of materials used in making the drones are Carbon fiber-reinforced composites (CRFCs) Thermoplastics which make its body robust and very strong (Durable). So during the time of learning if your drone meets up with an accident or gets crashed landing then nothing will happen with its body because of its robust material.
How much time will it take to charge a Drone?
Generally in charging the battery of a drone, it takes around 60-90 minutes, but it depends upon the capacity of the battery used and the type of charger/ adapter which you are using. The best part in this is the battery used in this is chargeable and is made up of Lithium-Ion. You have to charge both the devices (Controller and Drone). If one is discharged then the other will be of no use until both get powered up.
Is it easy to build your drone?
Yes, why not. You can easily build your drone in just a few steps. In the market or on online platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, etc. many sellers are selling drone DIY kits in which all the parts of the drone are provided along with the user guide through which anyone will be able to learn most of the things about the drone.
If you are a beginner to fly a drone then I suggest you buy a cheaper Quadcopter first and learn about the basics first (How to take off/ Land). If you got the perfection in doing this then after that you purchase the drone as per your wish.
The reason behind the purchasing of the cheaper drone, in the beginning, is to initially become familiar with the skills how to fly. After that buy as per your wish because if in the starting you buy the drone of cost $1500 and it gets crashed due to some reason then it may be hurt you so much.
What size of Drones requires a license?
As per the guidelines all the drones must be registered over FAA, except those drones whose weight is 0.55 pounds or less (less than 250 grams) and are flown exclusively under the Exception for Recreational Flyers.
Rules for flying the drone-
- You have to fly at or below 400 ft. height.
- Not allowed to fly over the restricted areas such as Airspace, Military areas, etc.
- Keep the drone within sight.
- Not allowed to fly over the groups of people.
- Don’t fly under the influence.
- Restricted to fly near the airports, stadiums, etc.
List of some features which Drones Technology have-
- Camera for taking pictures.
- GPS module
- Sensors like Ultrasonic, Collision avoidance sensors
- Accelerometer which can measure the speed of the drone.
- Altimeter which can be used to measure altitude and keeps the drone at a fixed altitude.
- Hover accuracy.
Disadvantages of Drones Technology-
- Drones have little short flight time because of the battery power.
- Can be affected by the weather conditions.
Is it hard to land or take off the drone?
Ideally, the landing or takeoff of the drones depends on the type of drone you are using. The expensive drones came up with the feature of automatic landing and takeoff, some of them are DJI Ace, DJI Phantom series, Mangoo H1, etc.
In cheaper drones, the user has to take care of the landing and takeoff.
Reason for why my drone fly away?
If anything comes in the path of the drone and controller then it will make the signals weaker and create the cause for the flyaway of the drone. This weakening of the signals can be caused due to weather change (if it is raining it will affect the signal strength) or the interface of any strong electromagnetic waves.
